Leigh Burkey, OTR/L

-Graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia in Occupational Therapy 

-Began her career at Lake Regional Medical Center in Osage Beach, Missouri providing early intervention, outpatient pediatric, and school based therapy services to area children

-Worked with bay area children providing school based and early intervention services in Contra Costa County

-Provided private pediatric therapy services within a bay area clinic for 4 years 

-Has advanced certification in sensory integration through the University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services including the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT)

 

Jamie Close, MS, OTR/L

-Graduated from Washington University- St. Louis in Occupational Therapy

-Began her career with the New York City Board of Education working in public schools

-Worked in early intervention (0-3) in Brooklyn with a focus on Autism spectrum disorders

-Worked with bay area children providing school based and early intervention services in Mount Diablo Unified School District

-Provided early intervention services to children through Regional Center of the East Bay

-Served bay area schools  for 6 years in both Marin County and West Contra Costa County working with children in Preschool-8th Grade with a focus on Autism classrooms  

-Has advanced certification in sensory integration through the University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services including the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT)

 

Independent Therapists

Allison Atwood, MS, OTR/L

-Graduated from San Jose State University – San Jose, CA in Occupational Therapy

-Started her career as an occupational therapist with California Children Services in San Mateo working with children between the ages of birth to 21 years with neuromuscular and orthopedic conditions in an outpatient pediatric clinic. 

-Worked in early intervention in the Bay Area with children with Autism providing in-home Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services.

-Has advanced certification in sensory integration through the University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services including the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT)

-Certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment Approach (NDT) including infant treatment and Kinesiotaping

-Received the Advanced Practice Certification through the California Board of Occupational Therapy in Swallowing Assessment and has extensive training in feeding.

 

Deborah Baumgarten, OTR/L

-Graduated the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in Occupational Therapy

-Began her career as a staff occupational therapist at a school for learning disabled children in Durban, South Africa

-Worked as an inpatient and outpatient occupational therapist at the Johannesburg Hospital specializing in the treatment of children with a variety of medical, pscychiatric, orthopedic, and neurological conditions

-Worked as a senior occupational therapist on a multi-disciplinary team at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in an outpatient satellite clinic treating children and adolescents with Cerebral Palsy, Autism spectrum disorders, and sensory processing disorders

-Employed by California Children's Services program for Alamedy County treating children from birth to 21 years with physical disabilities and developmental delay as a result of neuromuscular, orthopedic, and medical conditions

-Certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment Approach (NDT) including infant treatment and has received extensive training in sensory integration therapy, Myofascial Release, and Kinesiotaping

 

alib Ali Boissevain, MS, OTR/L

-Graduated from the University of Southern California in Occupational Therapy

-Began her career with West Contra Costa Unified School District providing services for preschool students and working with special day classrooms for students with autism

-Worked at Children’s Health Council in Palo Alto with children ages 2-15 in the clinic, Sand Hill School for children with learning differences, and Esther B. Clark School for children with emotional disturbance

-Provided in-home early intervention services in San Francisco and San Mateo counties

-Serves Larkspur-Corte Madera School District providing services for students in kindergarten through eighth grade

-Has advanced certification in sensory integration through the University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services including the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT)

 

Lise Carter, OTR/L

-Graduated from the University of New England in Maine in Occupational Therapy

-Has worked in various settings across the country including home-based, school, clinic and aquatic therapy for pediatrics

-Founded an aquatic therapy business in Vermont as well as traveled into the bush villages of Alaska to provide occupational therapy for Alaskan native children

-Has extensive experience working with children with fine motor and gross motor delays, visual motor and perceptual difficulties, sensory integration disorder, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental delays

-With continuing education in Sensory Processing and Regulation, Aquatic Therapy, Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting Without Tears, ALERT Program, and NDT principles, Lise enjoys treating children of all ages and skills levels. 

 

Cassie Eveans MA OTR/L

-Graduated from Saint Catherine University – Saint Paul, MN with a Masters in Occupational Therapy

-Received Bachelors degree in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities

-Has extensive experience working with children with fine and gross motor delays, developmental delays, Autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, learning disabilities, behavioral health difficulties, physical disabilities, and visual motor and perceptual difficulties

-Serves several school districts in the South Bay (Belmont, San Mateo Union High School District, San Bruno)

-Provides early intervention consultative services for 4 Peninsula Family Services Child Development Centers in the South Bay

-Completed continuing education in Sensory Processing and Regulation, Handwriting Without Tears, Social Thinking, Visual Perception, and It’s Yoga Kids Teacher Training

 

Maggie O’Reilly, MOT, OTR/L

-Graduated from Samuel Merritt University with a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy

-Worked for 3 years as a school based Occupational Therapist with Mt. Diablo Unified School District, serving children in preschool through 8th grade

-Provided home-based early intervention (0-3) services to bay area children through Regional Center of the East Bay

-Worked for 6 years at the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center inpatient rehabilitation unit, treating adults with diagnoses such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and orthopedic conditions.

-Has extensive experience working with children with sensory processing differences, Autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, fine and gross motor delays, physical disabilities, developmental delays, vision/hearing impairments and speech and language impairments.

- Currently serves West Contra Costa Unified School District, specializing in early intervention preschool services and working with children on the Autism Spectrum.

- Completed continuing education in Sensory Processing and Regulation, Handwriting Without Tears, Reflex Integration, Yoga Education for Autism Spectrum, Visual/Vestibular Rehabilitation, Social Thinking, Mealtime Success and DIR/Floortime.  

 

Jessie Strauss, MA OTR/L

-Graduated from University of Southern California – Los Angeles, CA in Occupational Therapy

-Started her career as an occupational therapist working at a private pediatric clinic in Culver City, CA, providing OT services to ages 6 months to 16 years old in home, clinic, and school settings.

-Worked as a behavioral therapist for a boy with autism while he was at a school.

-Worked as an occupational therapist at a multi-disciplinary private pediatric clinic in Encino, CA, working with a team to provide intensive early intervention services to children with developmental delays and on the Autism Spectrum.

-Provides OT services at a non-public school for children with Autism.

-Her trainings include: Handwriting Without Tears, Sensory Integration Course 1, Facilitation Techniques Based on NDT Principles with Lois Bly, Mini Yogis Teacher Training and The S.O.S. Approach to Feeding: Picky Eaters vs. Problem Feeders.
